Who we are

Margin of Safety Research is an independent investor-education desk maintained by a small crew of American researchers and writers. We are educators, not brokers, advisers or fund managers. We manage no money for others, run no model portfolios, and sell no trading tools, signals or courses with a price tag.

Why the name

“Margin of safety” is the oldest piece of honest advice in investing: never pay so much that you must be right about everything just to break even. It is also the first thing that melts away in a hot market. We named the desk after it on purpose — it is the discipline we teach, and the one the current AI boom is quietly forgetting.

What we do

We run a free from-zero classroom for self-directed investors, built around three courses: stock picking, trading discipline and risk management. The lessons explain, in plain English, how to read a business, how to size a position, and how to survive the trades that go wrong — the half of investing that headlines never cover.

What we will never do

We will never send you a hot tip, sell you entry signals, or promise returns. We name no securities and forecast nothing. There is no premium tier hiding behind the free classroom, because there is no tier at all: education is the entire business model.

Our editorial principle

Simple to state, hard to follow: we print the method, not the mood. When the market runs hot, our job is to be the boring page that reminds you what valuation, sizing and patience still require.
